#91 Map Side Table

Oopsy – been a couple of weeks since our last post. Time is flying at the moment!! We both have special projects on the go right now, so the blog has been neglected a little. But hey, that’s the way it’s supposed to be: real life first, blogosphere second ^_^

I’m very excited to say that I’ve been a tad pre-occupied because I’m in process of opening a SHOP! It’s feels a little scary real to be talking about it with people, but it’s happening fo’ real! The shop will be a recycle boutique, specialising in super lovely maternity wear. Plan is to open in the Autumn! Turns out starting a business is hard work, so not much time for crafting at the mo, but I suppose I have had a whole year of flexibility to do that, so I can’t complain…

In saying all of that though, today I had a little time up my sleeve due to a couple of cancellations, and I’ve been a little under the weather, so thought I’d cheer myself up with something creative…

Over the weekend we were in Margate with the fam, and visited a couple of suuuper vintagey, retro shops. Big sis Rose and I spied a loverly map-covered side table (£65!), and I vowed to attempt one myself with some trusty mod podge once I got home.

#89 SlightlyMoreInteresting Clothes Pegs

I don’t think that crafty/arty things need to be particularly spectacular, take very long, cost money and/or take much skill. Some times it’s just nice to do something. Today’s post is evidence of all of the above!

I saw these cute clothes pegs on Pinterest a while ago and thought: “Um, Sharpie, Pegs, 3mins. What more do you need?”. So after spending the morning with my head in spreadsheets, I thought what better excuse for a creative break and some sunshine than to vamp up some clothes pins (and then hang out the washing…)

Guest Pinnage – Faye’s 30th Extravaganza!

Lots of guest posts slash not a lot of posts going on around here lately!! I’ve been a little pre-occupied with final exams for my Counselling course, and Ruth’s been tres busy as well, so the poor blog has been a little abandoned…

But, it’s more fun having lovely guest posts anyway, and today’s one is a doozy!!

Faye is the wonderful sister of the equally wonderful Leanne, and after I saw pics of her 30th bday party on fb I basically begged her to send me all the details – it looked so fab!!

Guest Pinnage – Mum’s Knitting SKILLS!

Mama Twinterest is one crafty lady – I reckon that creativity is a nature+nuture thang, and any creative juices we may have are only there because our Mum and Grandmas are and were arty farty (plus our Dad is a pretty dab-hand at the paintbrush and camera as well!)

In the last few years, Mum has really taken to knitting in a signif way; picking up the mantle of her Mum, our Grandma June who knitted ridiculously amazing wearable pieces of art for all and sundry. June knitted our bro John a pretty rad tiger jumper back in the day, and it cropped up in many a fam photo:

Well, now John has a mini one of his own, so Mum made the Tiger Jumper 2.0!! Here is our sweet and wonderful nephew Nick rocking the Tiger just like his Dad:

Guest Pinnage – Sian’s Craft Club!

Col and I are off to Ireland this weekend for a wedding, and a belated wedding anniversary break – yippeee! I’m pretty excited because; a) I love Ireland x1mil, b) a great couple are getting married and marriage is awesome, and c) we get to see some fab people, including the lovely Sian!

Sian has kindly shared lots of her craftiness on the blog since we started it last year, and I have been collecting photos of her super cool Craft Club to share with you peeps. #88 Herringbone Nails

Another week, another blurry picture of my nails!

After last week’s Chevron action, I wanted to try out my metallic sharpies and so decided on a mint and gold herringbone design. Simple enough: paint nails, draw on them!

#87 Homemade fajita seasoning

Everyone loves a bit of  ”Mexican” from time to time – actually G and I will eat pretty much anything if it’s wrapped in a tortilla with salsa on top…spicy fish fingers anyone?!

I have a cupboard full of herbs and spices and yet we only seem to have fajitas if the Old El Paso range is on sale at the supermarket. Well last week we had one chicken breast in the fridge and not much else, what to do? A quick peek on Pinterest for “homemade fajita seasoning” and I happened to find the BEST site ever for homemade seasoning – this is going to change your life/cooking forever!

Edible Paradise has EVERYTHING – you’ll never buy a packet mix again! Lemonade, jam, basil oil (?!), even how to make your own almond milk! Have a search through the recipe themes on the left hand side of the page, you will be seriously inspired.

Yip, totally first world problem alert! What do you do if you have a large drinks dispenser which releases a irritating drip or two after you’re poured a drink??

Well, this chump wasn’t going to scrub no sticky floors, so for our recent anniversary shin-dig, I created my own drip catcher-er! I saw the idea first on Pinterest, but why would you buy something new like in the pic above, when you can make one for free by upcycling your recycling?? As you can see from the elementary design, I just hacked at an empty soft drink bottle:
